The Michigan City Park Department, along with the LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau, is again hosting the 2nd Annual Michigan City Triathlon on August 13 & 14 and the planning has already begun. They are anticipating a growth in numbers and provide something the entire community can get behind and support. You can be a part of this by being a sponsor!

LaPorte County Habitat for Humanity will conduct their annual Construction Workshop in 8 sessions on Tuesdays and Saturdays during the month of March starting March 2. Classes are Tuesdays 5:30 - 8:30 pm and Saturdays 9 am - Noon. Registration cost is $30 which includes the cost of building materials and the manual and participants may request a $15 refund after completing 16 volunteer hours on a 2010 worksite. Classes will be conducted at the Michiana Resources. Classes cover the basics of framing, roofing, door and window installation, siding, drywall, insulation, painting, trim, and maintenance. Classes consist of both classroom and hands on activities. Participants will construct a playhouse/shed that will be raffled off to benefit Habitat construction activities. International entertainer and vocalist Greta Pope will present "Paris Noir" on Saturday, February 27 at Lubeznik Center for the Arts. Pope's program will be a tribute to the African-American musicians who brought jazz to Paris. Enjoy an evening of vintage flavors and French flair amidst "The New Moderns" exhibition in Lubeznik Center's Hyndman Gallery. Doors will open at 6 pm the night of the show, performance begins at 7 pm. French beverages, cheeses and desserts will be available.
