Business After Hours
The first Business After Hours in September is hosted by Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets on Thursday, September 2 from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm in space 207 (next to Coach.) Please join them for a special preview of fall merchandise; coupons and coupon books will be available. Wine will be provided by Shady Creek Winery and light snacks will be served. The door prize is a gift basket loaded with merchandise from several stores. Please park in Lot G. RSVP to the Chamber by Monday, August 30. RSVP now.

Last Chance! Crazy 8’s Golf Outing
The Chamber’s Crazy 8’s Golf Outing will be on Tuesday, September 7 beginning at 4 p.m. at Briar Leaf Golf Club. This is a great event for golfers and non-golfers alike! Skill is not required to have a great 9 holes of golf. Each member of your team of eight chooses one club to play their every shot, you might be putting with a driver! This is a lot of fun and a great way to thank employees for their hard work all year. Appetizers and awards will be following. The cost is $200 per team or $25 per person. Tee sign sponsorships are $100. RSVP now.

Business Before Hours
The first Business Before Hours will be hosted by Office Depot, 4110 Franklin St., on Thursday, September 23 from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. This event will be the launching of the Office Depot Chamber Discount Program specially designed to save Chamber members money on hundreds of office supplies! Who doesn’t want to save money on items purchased everyday? Come out and pick up your discount card and hear about this great program designed to save you money! Breakfast rolls and coffee will be served. RSVP now.

Young Nonprofit Professionals
The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Northwest Indiana is a new organization in the area. They will be holding their first social event on September 8 at 6 pm. This "Get to Know YNPN of NWI" event will be held at Charlie's, 517 East Barker Ave. The YNPN of NWI's mission is to bring together young professionals to help strengthen our community. Anyone interested in learning more about, or becoming a part of, the organization is encouraged to attend. There will be a brief introduction to the organization from Board of Directors President, Charlie Roberts. First Trust Credit Union
The Michigan City food pantry is seriously low and in order to fulfill the needs of so many families, the Salvation Army, Al’s Supermarkets, and First Trust Credit Union have once again joined forces to hold their annual STUFF-A-BUS food drive. They will be stuffing buses with bags of food donated by you on September 11 between 9 am and 3 pm at Al’s Franklin St. and Karwick Plaza locations. Your donation of just $5 can purchase a meat voucher, or bag of groceries for a family in need. You may also donate food items or purchase a meat voucher for $5 at First Trust’s Michigan City branch at 950 E. U.S. Highway 20. Help us make sure that no one in our hometown goes hungry. Volunteers are also needed to help load and unload the buses. Call Denita Ton with the Salvation Army at 874-6885 to volunteer, or for more information contact First Trust Credit Union at 879-6161.

Entrepreneur Center
The Entrepreneur Center Michigan City is offering Quickbooks Essentials on Monday, September 13 & 20 from 8:30 am - 12pm. The cost is $89 (this is for two sessions). This class is a great resource for using QuickBooks on a daily basis. Core bookkeeping functions are taught to help you capture your business' vital financial data while getting your job done. Class topics include: Accounting Primer, Getting Started, Navigating QuickBooks, Managing Lists, Working with Bank Accounts, Other Accounts in QuickBooks, Recording Sales, Receiving Payments, Making Deposits and Entering & Paying Bills.
