Women in Management (WIM) is a gathering of women at all stages of their careers who meet for the purpose of enhancing professional development through networking, special programs and community outreach. Energetic luncheons are held bi-monthly featuring hot topics of interest to women in the workplace, often spotlighting the movers and shakers of our community. WIM is an affiliate of the Michigan City Area Chamber of Commerce and is overseen by a steering committee and Chamber staff. Through the Chamber of Commerce, WIM presents the ATHENA Award annually. This event and the award recognize the chievements of individuals whose professional accomplishments and community service further the advancement of women in the workplace as well as impact women's issues. WIM Members receive a lapel pin, special pricing for luncheons and programming, periodic newsletters and valuable information. WIM: The Members Women in Managment members are progressive individuals looking for ways to:
Members represent a vast array of occupations and work fields. They are the current leaders and directors of for profit and not-for-profit companies as well as the next generation of top executives. Each is responsible for professional functions within their organization regardless of its size and purpose. WIM: Working Committees Several committess coordinate activities and projects and members are encouraged to participate in their area of interest. These committees include:
Membership/Marketing - recruiting and retaining members; selling the organization and its value to the community.
Mentoring As an integral part of its mission, Women in Management is dedicated to providing a launching pad for professional and personal development of women within the community. Members have the opportunity to serve as mentors for college students who are preparing for careers in a variety of fields. Mentoring is a valuable means of volunteerism for the member, providing:
